DRS Technologies has it received three contract awards worth approximately $55 million from the US Army to manufacture more than 2,300 Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).

The first delivery order is worth $37 million, the second delivery award is worth more than $10 million, and the third delivery order is valued at approximately $8 million. The orders include 5-, 10- and 15-kilowatt TQGs, which will be manufactured and delivered between April 2008 and April 2009.

The delivery orders are part of a $369 million contract with the US Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM)CECOM, placed immediately prior to the initial delivery award. CECOM placed the order on behalf of various Army, Navy and Air Force units.

The awards continue a long-term production programme for the Army, which initially began as a development programme in 1997. Since then, DRS has been the premier provider of these generators for the military. To date, DRS has manufactured more than 10,000 10-kilowatt TQGs for the military, and by the end of the year, will have produced more than 21,000 3-kilowatt units, as well.
