General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been selected by Boeing as the preferred provider to supply the next generation of wideband radomes for the F-15 Radar Modernisation Programme(RMP). The source selection award covers the design, development and production of the radome.
This programme will upgrade the US Air Force F-15E with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar system. The anticipated programme start date is no later than the end of the third quarter, 2008.
Production and programme management will be done at General Dynamics' Advanced Materials facility in Marion, Virginia.
"Our team in Marion has been designing and manufacturing aircraft radomes for more than 50 years, and is the creator of a proprietary manufacturing process for wideband radome fabrication that includes precision machining to achieve the required electrical performance," stated Jim Losse, vice president and general manager of advanced materials for General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products.
